Homily for Pentecost, 2006, based on Acts 2.1-21. Preceding my reading of the text was a series of readings from a variety of languges.
This sermon reflects culminative work in the fifty days of Easter to ready our congregation for a new season of discernment and visioning for our ministry for the next several years.
Our identity as a congregation claiming our Wesleyan commitment to discipleship lived out - especially as it relates to matters of justice and servant ministry, and our commitment to be a community of Jesus' companions practicing the radical nature of Gospel hospitality are benchmarks for this fertile time in Saint John's life together.
